10-12-2008 - 25th Class Reunion? Update...
Thank you for your messages and emails! Several of you have communicated your various levels of interest in attending or volunteering to help with the potential 25th class reunion. I have talked with a few of you on the phone too about what chairing the event would mean and the time commitment it would take.
Most of you know that it is our responsibility as a class to set these events up, and that the high school does not plan or donate funds to the event. The high school does help us by spreading the word when people call them, and with any memorabilia or yearbooks they have on hand. All our reunions are created by someone with an unending amount of energy, drive and event planning know-how to make the reunion happen.
After weighing the pros and cons, Don Payne has volunteered to lead the event planning and volunteer coordinating, and we had a great discussion about it this last week.
We know all of us would love to have as great a party as last time in 2000, but we also know this coming year could be economically tight for many of us. We won't know what situation we are in until later next year.
With that in mind, we are holding off on the planning, and taking more emails from you all through January. At that point, we can see how you feel about committing to paying for the tickets in April for a 25th reunion in the Fall.
We would love to do Brutocao's or someplace like it again, with good food and something to do, but that would depend on prices they need to charge us, and how much all of us can pay. Between travel costs, accommodation and tickets for the attendees, the $$$ can get up there.
I'll be sending out emails from time to time to see what you all think.
Can't believe that it's time for the 25th already! Time goes by so fast! :)
