Chellie Irene Steely-Flores passed away in Redwood Valley on February 4th, 2014. She was born April 24th, 1965 in Ukiah, Ca. to Arlene and James Steely.
Chellie graduated with the class of 1984 from Ukiah High School. She went on to work at a number of local convalescent hospitals, Safeway Supermarket, and eventually began working with her mother driving pilot cars.
She always loved animals and owned several pets over the years, her favorites being her Chihuahuas. She turned her love of animals into a livelihood when she started a pet grooming business several years ago.
A favorite activity of Chellie’s was going to yard sales and finding treasures. She was known by many as a friendly, sweet person who liked to meet new people.
Chellie will be remembered as a strong individual who overcame many obstacles in her life including a battle with cancer 15 years ago, which she won. She was preceded in death by her father James Steely, grandmother Irene Currier, and grandfather Lennie Currier. Survivors include her husband Steven Flores whom she married April 14th, 2000, mother Arlene Steely, stepfather Rick Peterson, brothers Ken Steely (Anna Scott) and David Steely (Suzanne), nephews Allen and Austin Steely and their mother Susan Schlosser, nephew Aaron Steely, and other extended family.
Visitation will be at Empire Mortuary, 2397 N. State St, Ukiah, CA on Wednesday February 12th from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Services will be held at the Ukiah Cemetery Chapel, 940 Low Gap Road, Ukiah, CA, Thursday February 13th. A visitation at 1:00 PM will precede the service at 2:00 PM. Services entrusted to the care of Empire Mortuary, Ukiah.
